Hello! I’m not quite sure where to begin? I have to be honest and admit that this is all very new to me and this will be my first EVER blog post (so please be kind haha). Don’t get me wrong, I read and follow lots of blogs from beauty, fashion, food, education and travel ,but now I suppose it’s my turn to give it a go. So, I imagine this would be a good place to introduce ourselves.
About us. Kate and Kyle.
We have quite a interesting story on how we ended up here.
I was born in Swansea, Wales, UK and lived with my parents and sister. I had the most wonderful up bring surrounded by a supportive family and amazing friends. Dwi’n siarad Cymraeg ac yn browd iawn o’r Cymreictod sy’n rhedeg trwy fy nghorff. I am fluent Welsh speaker and spent my school years competing in local and National Eisteddfod’s where I had great success. Singing and performing has been a huge part of my life which led me to study Drama at University in Cardiff. Looking back, university was EVERYTHING I imagined it to be and more. Hand on heart, If you are thinking about going to university, GO! Just do it. You won’t regret it. I graduated in 2016 and decided to go into teaching, so spent an additional year qualifying as a Secondary Drama School Teacher, which was the most challenging but rewarding year!
I suppose your all wondering where does Kyle come into this?? So here he is! My Kyle!

We first met in 2013 whilst both holidaying with friends in Magaluf. It wasn’t like any romantic film where 2 people lock eyes on a sunsetting beach and instantly fall in love, it was more a sweaty nightclub at 4am, alcohol infused meeting (how romantic). But something felt right. We clicked straight away and spent hours and hours talking watching the sun rise. Inevitably, both our holidays had to end and I returned to Swansea and Kyle to Glasgow! BOOM. There it is. 410 miles between us.

At first, we just kept in touch via text and phone calls. After a few meet ups we decided to give the whole ‘Long Distance’ thing a go. Both of us absolutely terrified, and myself about to move away from home and start university. Looking back we were probably crazy but something felt special and we are both so glad we worked through the hard times. We couldn’t have done it without the support of out friends and families! 5 years later, here we are! Engaged and about to leave our lives behind and travel the world.

Kyle has always lived in Glasgow, Scotland. He is a engineer by trade and a HUGE Rangers fan. We both play rugby, for rival teams, which is always fun. We both also have a love for travelling and music festivals.

Getting to this point has not been easy, the distance at times was heartbreaking and there were many days where we wanted to give up. We spent hours and hours (and thousands of pounds ) travelling the distance between us on flights, trains, buses and cars – here is where we got our inspiration for our blog name. We hope you like it!
I have spent the last year living in Scotland teaching and more importantly – SAVING! We have been planning this trip for what feels like forever and we are finally here! Only 5 months until we leave! AHHHH! It’s what keeps us going everyday ! Every last penny of ours gets put away, even though we could probably do without the extra odd date night or meal out, but we are so close to reaching our target of £10,000.
So why are we writing this blog? Well, for me, it’s so we can look back on it in years to come. We’re also doing it so family and friends can check in on us and read about what we’ve been up to, and I like to live the ‘basic bitch’ life, so a blog seamed fitting. I LOVE lists and planning, so as you can imagine I am super busy planning every detail of our trip , even though I am really trying to just go with the whole ‘wing it’ attitude.
We will be visiting : Dubai, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and America, with hope to add some other countries along the way. For now, I’m off to continue planning! We’d love to help others who are thinking about going travelling so will definitely be writing about the planning process.
Cariad Mawr.
